Do's and Don'ts

Some much needed advice

Below you’ll find a list of Do’s and Don’ts surrounding waxing.

To ensure you'll get the best results and a safe treatment it's important that you read our Do's and Don'ts carefully beforehand.

  • Inform us of any allergies before your appointment.

  • Let your hair grow for at least 2weeks before your appointment.Hairs shorter than 1.5cm cannot be removed by waxing.

  • Keep yourself hydrated and your skin moisturized. A healthy skin will result in a better waxing experience.

  • Exfoliate 2-3 times per week to renew your skin, making it easier for hairs to come to the surface. This helps to treat and prevent ingrown hairs.

  • Wear loose cotton underwear and clothing after waxing to prevent skin irritation.

  • It’s okay to get waxed during your menstrual cycle, just make sure to wear a tampon or cup and let us know at your appointment.

  • Shower and clean your entire body before the appointment, as some nudity is involved. Wet wipes are available for last-minute touch-ups.

  • Avoid exposure to sunlight or tanning 24 hours before and after waxing as your skin may become very sensitive.
  • Don’t shave between appointments, occasionally using a tweezer is okay but avoid shaving.

  • Don’t exposure your skin to the sun or go tanning 24 hours before or after waxing.

  • Don’t use saunas, steam rooms, swimming pools, oceans, and other bodies of water for 24 hours after waxing.

  • Refrain from sexual and/or physical activities for 24 hours after waxing as your skin may be sensitive.

  • Don’t exfoliate in the first 5 days after waxing.

  • Don’t use numbing creams or gels before waxing, as they can cause hairs to break instead of being pulled out.

  • If you have severe skin issues like acne, waxing may not be suitable for you.

  • If case you have used any of the following medication on the area to be waxed, you have to wait 1-2 weeks before you can be waxed:
  1. Glycolic (an alpha hydroxy acid)
  2. Salicylic acid (beta hydroxy acid) peel
  3. Retin-A, Renova or Differin
